CIBES – Introduction

Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences (CIBES) is a Degree Awarding Institution sponsored by the CET – COMMECS EDUCATIONAL TRUST. The Trust was established by the COMMECS – the Alumni Association of the Government College of Commerce and Economics. Trust is a not-for-profit organization, certified by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) for quality standards in education. The founders envisioned the institute for bringing in a quantum change in the present education system of the country.

CIBES was the first institute in Pakistan to get BBA Program affiliation from IBA – the Institute of Business Administration Karachi in the Year 1995. This reflected the confidence and trust of IBA Karachi in the quality of business education provided at CIBES.

During its decade long healthy affiliation with IBA’ CIBES offered BBA (Pass), BBA (Hons.) and BBA (4 Years) Program. It’s graduates are serving at organizations like SIEMENS, ABN Amro Bank, P&G, Unilever, Standard Chartered Bank, MCB, HBL, Citi Bank, Shell Pakistan, GlaxoSmithKline, KPMG, Maerskline Shipping, KPMG (UK), Ernst & Young (UK and Dubai), HSBC (Pakistan) etc.

In Feb 2010 by the grace of Allah, CIBES was granted, charter by the Government of Sindh to award degrees in Business Administration, Education and Information Technology.

CIBES draws its strength from 15 years of rich experience of providing education at the tertiary level and 14 years of healthy affiliation with IBA Karachi for BBA program offering specialization courses in Finance and Marketing. Placement of BBA graduates in reputable national and international organizations etc, is an indication of CIBES endeavors to deliver an innovative and constantly evolving system of quality education to cater to national and international corporate needs.

The new academic session will start at a centrally located campus of the COMMECS School of Business Administration on main Shahrah-e-Faisal. The campus is well equipped with latest teaching and learning facilities including multimedia, computer lab, library / audio visual aids, air conditioned classrooms etc.

CIBES faculty is a combination of highly competent and committed teachers associated on permanent / visiting basis. The faculty has rich experience of delivering quality education in diversified disciplines thus enabling them to teach students in a more comprehensive and focused way.

Mission Statement

To remain committed to bringing in a quantum change in the quality of education by the pursuit of sustained excellence in a various areas of education and research in a disciplined and peaceful environment.

To enrich the environment by preparing responsible future leaders by encouraging a posture of positive inquiry and research, and to equip them with practical knowledge combined with qualities of personal integrity, vision, ethics and dedication

To produce high calibre professionals, entrepreneurs and educationists, able to undertake intellectual rigor and engage in research and development with freedom of thought and expression, without discrimination; and to nurture in them, the ability to think analytically, solve problems and ensure fruitful delivery.

To catalyze inter-disciplinary participation and exposure to the learning of social sciences in all disciplines, thereby ensuring the development of a ‘well-rounded’ personality.

To reward and recognize students and staff of the institution by encouraging sustained career development, and provide them facilities and support to pursue research; and to forge links with the wider academic world leading to the strengthening of individual and group learning and the dissemination of knowledge in society.
