POLICIES BBA/MBA

 

 

1. ADMISSION STATUS

Candidates awaiting result of Intermediate or Bachelor’s examination are admitted provisionally provided other requirements of the degree programme are met. Such candidates must fill an undertaking on the admission form before their applications may be considered for the Aptitude test. However, if a student fails to pass the examination or scores below the eligibility requirement of the degree programme after the full result is revealed, the admission at CIBES is immediately cancelled. Such student is given the opportunity to re-apply after the academic eligibility of the programme is met.

2. DEFERMENT OF ADMISSION

Students who are granted admissions at the Institute and want to postpone their admission for one semester are allowed to do so if they give an application in writing to the Admission Office. The tuition fee of such students can also be transferred into the next semester if the Admission Office gets the application within a week of the commencement of that semester. Fee shall not be transferred after one week. Students who join the Institute and then decide to leave the Institute are not eligible for any refund in the tuition fee.

3. TRANSFER OF CREDIT POLICY

CIBES is a chartered institution and accepts credits from all HEC recognized institutions under the following conditions:

    1. A candidate may request for transfer of courses in the bachelors/master degree programme at CIBES.
    2. The transfer/ exemption of course is only granted if the course has same credit hours and matching course content as the
      corresponding course at CIBES.
    3. Level of degree shall be same, i.e. a bachelor level course completed elsewhere does not make one eligible for exemption for Master
      coursework.
    4. Course and credit hour exemptions are only offered if a student is applying in the same degree at CIBES.
    5. If a student has completed the same course in a different degree earlier, the academic content of that course may be transferred if the
      course content is matched. In this case, student must do substitute course/s to fulfill the credit hour requirement.
    6. Student may be tested through examination process at CIBES for every course in which one is claiming exemption to check the level
      of knowledge before the course and its credit hours are transferred.
    7. Course exemption/transfer fee is charged on courses exempted/transferred.
    8. Internship and project courses are excluded from transfer/ exemption.

4. ADMISSION WITHDRAWALS AND FEE REFUND

  1. In case of withdrawal from the Institute at any stage i.e. before or after the start of the session, NO FEE will be refunded.
  2. In case of cancellation of admission due to candidate being unable to achieve the HSC result or equivalent criteria, FULL FEE will be
    refunded.

5. ATTENDANCE

BBA PROGRAMME

A student is allowed a maximum of 5 absences in a course of 75 minutes duration of class.

In case student accumulates more than the allowed number of absences in any course in a semester, s/he is awarded grade ‘F’ in that particular course.

The provision of absences is for emergencies such as late comings or sickness during a semester.

No leave application is required for availing the allowed absences.

MBA PROGRAMME

A student is allowed a maximum of 9 hour absences in a course


In case student accumulates more than the allowed number of absences in any course in a semester, s/he is awarded grade ‘F’ in that particular course.

The provision of absences is for emergencies such as late comings or sickness during a semester. No leave application is required for availing the allowed absences.

6. WITHDRAWAL FROM A COURSE

BBA PROGRAMME

  1. Course withdrawal can be sought before accumulating the allowed number of absences.
  2. student can withdraw from 01 course in a semester.
  3. Withdrawal will not be counted as grade ‘F’.

MBA PROGRAMME

  1. Course withdrawal can be sought before accumulating the allowed number of absences before second term exams.
  2. Withdrawal will not be counted as grade ‘F’.

7. CGPA

BBA PROGRAMME

  1. Minimum GPA
    A Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.2, on accumulative basis.
    The minimum GPA rules are applied after each semester.
    The GPA is computed at the end of the each semester including the summer semesters that a student enrolls in.
    Minimum GPA but Course Failure
    If a student fails to pass certain courses and yet manages to maintain his GPA equal to or above 2.2, he is allowed to repeat and clear the course(s) or substitute(s) (wherever possible), before the degree is awarded to him / her.
  2. Probation
    Students securing a GPA between 2.0 and 2.2 is put on probation for one semester. At the end of the semester he / she is required
    to improve his GPA and bring it up to required minimum level of 2.2.
    Extension of Probation
    If the probationary shows an improvement, but his / her GPA is still below 2.2, his / her probation may be extended for another
    semester.
  3. Dropped
    Any student with a GPA of less than 2.0 is dropped from the roll of the institute. In case the student is allowed extension in probation but still fails to bring his GPA to 2.2 by the end of the next semester, he / she is dropped from the roll of the institute.
    Repetition of Course
    Grade less than C should be repeated. Result of the repeated course would be averaged out.

MBA PROGRAMME

  1. Minimum CGPA

8. CAMPUS DECORUM AND DISCIPLINE

  • Smoking is not allowed inside the CIBES campus.
  • All students are required to be clean, well-groomed and dressed properly
  • Mobile phone usage is not allowed inside classrooms.

 

9.ACADEMIC HONESTY

Plagiarism

  • Students are required to submit their own work.
  • Work of others must be clearly referenced. To do otherwise constitute plagiarism, which amounts to academic dishonesty?

Penalties

  • Reduction of grade or withdrawal from the course or a requirement that additional work be undertaken in connection with the course. If there is a serious academic or moral dishonesty, penalties may include a letter of censure, suspension or expulsion from the Institute.

 

10. AWARD OF DEGREE

CGPA requirement - MBA PROGRAMME
If CGPA is less than 2.5 but not below 2.2. the student shall be required to repeat one semester of the lowest academic standing / or certain courses in order to bring his / her CGPA up to 2.50.


CGPA requirement - BBA PROGRAMME
If CGPA is less than 2.2 but not below 2.00 the student shall be required to repeat one semester of the lowest academic standing / or certain courses in order to bring his / her CGPA up to 2.20.

  1. Clearance of all courses
    Students must clear all courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in MBA/2.20 in BBA
  2. Summer Internship
    Morning Programme students must have completed Summer Internship
  3. Professional Development Workshop
    BBA/MBA(Morning) students must attend professional development training during their course of studies.
  4. BBA/MBA Project
    BBA/MBA projects must be completed satisfactorily.
  5. Comprehensive Examination
    Degree will be awarded on passing the comprehensive examination. There shall be no grades or marks for the comprehensive examination. Evaluation shall be on the basis of pass / fail.
